What Is Insulin Resistance
Insulin Resistance is a condition where the cells block out insulin. Insulin is a hormone that brings the sugar from the blood stream into the cells.
As a result of this both blood glucose and insulin gets too high in the blood stream causing high blood sugar (type 2 diabetes) and a high insulin level causing obesity.
Due to the excess insulin, the excess blood sugar gets stored as fat usually around the belly known as adipose tissue and other places in the body such as around the organs and this fat is known as visceral fat.
Insulin Resistance is caused by stress and poor eating habits, too much fat in the diet causing the cell´s insulin receptors to withdraw themselves so that the insulin cannot bring the sugar into the cells.
This is because the cells gets fed by the fat, another fuel source, and then because they now are fed by fat they close themselves off from the insulin simply because they are already fed and don´t want more to eat. They are full so to speak.
Insulin resistance is also known as pre-diabetes where ones blood sugar level is mildly elevated. Type 2 diabetes is also a state of insulin resistance with elevated blood sugar level.
Insulin Resistance – A Natural Response From Nature
Insulin resistance is originally a natural protection mechanism by nature.
At the time of our far distant ancestors when food availabillity was scarce and they had no food to eat, they could go weeks without eating. They would feed of their own fat stores and because of this th the body would naturally go into a state of insulin resistance.
This was and is an entirely natural thing that would then release itself when food again was available.
Type 2 Diabetes – One of the Biggest Illness of Our Time
But in our modern day society insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes has become one of the biggest illness of our time. Simply because in our modern world we have become much more inactive than our far distant ancestors who would walk and move and work in nature much much more than we do. Most people sit begind desks and don´t move much and have a fridge full of food where they stuff themselves out of proportions as to when our far ancestors lived.
Our modern way of living makes us ill because we´re not as natural anymore as compared to our far distant ancestors and that makes us ill.
I´m not saying we should become like our far distant ancestors, no!. What I´m saying is we´ve become more unnatural as our modern world is very different from the world they lived in. We live in a much more synthetic world – we don´t have to do much physical work and sitting down all day at a desk and not getting enough exercise makes us ill. Also because of this our connection to nature is not so great as it once were to say in mildly.
Stress – A Big Cause of Insulin Resistance and Type 2 Diabetes
Our stressful world cause continous insulin resistance simply because we live and eat wrong in comparison to our far distant ancestors who were much more natural than we are today.
Also our biology is the same as it once were, and we´re simply not designed to live as we do in the world. In a sense we need to return much more to nature and to the natural – eating in tune with nature instead of eating processed poluted foods that makes us ill.
Most doctors don´t even know the cause of insulin resistance, which is why they medicate for it. This is due to the industrialization of our world where we have forgotten our ancient roots to nature and healthy living.
